The District Institute of Education and Training (DIET) Mon was established in August 2006 by the State Government to provide academic and resource support to the elementary and adult education system in the District. The institute with its motto ‘Discere, Docere, Seminere’ meaning, ‘Learn, Teach, Spread’ aims to prepare quality teachers to facilitate every student  to realize his/her full potential and also empower teachers to achieve professional competency to cope with rapid advancement in the field of education and technology.

The DIET have three main functions :

• Training (both induction level and continuing education) and orientation for Elementary school teachers, Head Masters, Heads of School Complexes, instructors and supervisors of Non-formal and Adult Education.
• Resource support (extension, guidance, development of material aids, evaluation tools etc.) to the elementary and adult education system in the district.
• Action research to deal with specific problems of the district in achieving the objectives in the areas of elementary and adult education.

DIET, Mon is situated in Goching Village which is 5 kms away from Mon Town towards Aboi and Tobu road.
